I didn't dislike the cyberspace section like you did, but I wouldn't say they're anything amazing either. You can carry as much ammo and stimulants as you want, which pleasantly surprised me. The only thing you really need to manage in terms of inventory are your items and weapons. I also really liked how there really aren't any RPG elements like you said, instead you find Software and Equipment and those upgrades are permanent. I was really surprised by how much the original sucked me in, I would play for hours and not even notice.
